Sarasota Memorial’s orthopedic team is as committed to increasing patient access to specialized care as it is to producing excellent outcomes. Leading those efforts is board-certified orthopedic surgeon Adam Bright, MD, who, in addition to maintaining a busy practice, has dedicated much of his career to providing free orthopedic care and surgery to hundreds of low-income patients at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and its outpatient Community Specialty Clinic.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my patients and my community,” says Dr. Bright. “Seeing patients who have received a hip or knee replacement return to my office with smiles and hugs is everything a surgeon could hope to achieve!”

An assistant professor with Florida State University College of Medicine and past president of the Florida Orthopedic Society, Dr. Bright has served as Chief of Surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and created its Bloodless Surgery Program. He has standardized medical, surgical and anesthetic techniques used by surgeons, anesthesiologists and hospitalists across multiple disciplines for patients who prefer transfusion-free surgeries.

Dr. Bright’s specialties include:

  • Minimally Invasive Hip Replacement
  • Tourniquetless Minimally Invasive Total Knee
  • Partial Knee Unicompartment Replacement
  • Outpatient Hip & Knee Joint Replacement
  • Stem Cells

Dr. Bright also leads Sarasota Memorial’s efforts in Operation Walk USA, a national initiative in which surgeons, hospitals and medical device companies donate the facilities, medical teams, equipment and supplies to provide free hip and knee replacements to patients in need. SMH is one of about 33 hospitals that participate in Operation Walk each year.
