Orthopedic spine surgeon Ashvin Patel, MD, has served as Chief of Surgery at Sarasota Memorial and is a high-volume leader in our orthopedic spine program. Supported by vascular surgeons, interventional neuroradiologists and critical care specialists, Dr. Patel often takes care of high-risk patients with complex disorders and is involved in several studies of innovative spinal technology with the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Among the highest-volume Ortho­pedic spine surgeons in Florida, Dr. Patel receives referrals from providers across the region and beyond. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, and AO North America.

Dr. Patel also is an assistant clinical professor for the Florida State University School of Medicine, a researcher and member of the Cervical Spine Research Society; has published several orthopedic journals and textbooks; and is a frequent presenter on disorders of the cervical spine, total disc replacement, and minimally invasive spine surgery.
